1954 Toothpaste Ad

This toothpaste advertisement from 1954 makes me laugh. Look at the kid's expression as he douses the toothbrush with the flavorful toothpaste. Though this ad lacks color, it seems to give off an unnatural excitement with the large "WOW!" at the center of the screen. This is more than likely one of the first flavored toothpastes of that day and time. I wonder what toothpaste tasted like before this invention. How far have we come since then? Why are we not as excited about new improvements in dentistry as this kid seems to be? Perhaps life around us is just too exciting to marvel at such an insignificant improvement. But what if we still used the toothpaste before this invention of flavorful toothpaste? Would we pay more attention and be more grateful for the small things?
